Amaretto Tiramisu Ice Cream

The Tiramisu is often eaten as a dessert winter, because it is very caloric, but in this version Gelato has found its place even in the hottest months


2 1/2 c. cream
2 c. whole milk (or 1 c. cream + 1 c. water)
1 vanilla bean, halved lengthwise with seeds scraped out
8 large egg yolks
3/4 c. sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
20 ladyfingers, plus more for serving
1/4 c. strong coffee, cooled
1/4 c. Amaretto liquor
1/2 c. good quality fudge sauce
